Certainty & Transformation ("we," "our," or "the App") is a Quranic guidance web application that helps users discover guidance rooted in the Quran. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle information when you use our service.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding that information. This policy applies to all users of our web application, regardless of location.
By using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the App.
We use Firebase Authentication to provide you with access to the App. You may sign in with an email and password, Google account, Apple account, phone number, or continue as a guest (anonymous authentication). When you create an account, we store your name, email address, and/or phone number as provided through your chosen sign-in method. Guest users are assigned a random, anonymous user ID (UID) that contains no personally identifiable information.
When you use the App, we store the messages you send and the responses generated by the App. This conversation data is stored in Google Firestore (a cloud database provided by Google/Firebase) and is associated with your user account or anonymous UID. Conversation data includes the text of your messages, AI-generated responses, conversation titles (derived from the first 50 characters of your first message in each conversation), and timestamps of when conversations were created and last updated.
We do not collect your physical address, payment or financial information, precise geolocation, photographs or biometric data, social media profiles, or government identification numbers. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking purposes. We do not use analytics tools such as Google Analytics. We do not serve advertisements of any kind.
We use the information described above solely for the following purposes: to provide you with Quranic guidance through the App, to store your conversation history so you can return to previous conversations, to authenticate your identity and secure your account, and to maintain and improve the functionality of the App.
We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, profiling, automated decision-making, or any purpose other than delivering the core service of the App.
To operate the App, we use trusted third-party service providers in the following categories. These providers process data only as necessary to deliver the App's core functionality and are contractually or policy-bound to protect your information:
We use third-party cloud services to manage user authentication (sign-in) and to securely store your conversation data. Data processed by these providers includes authentication credentials, user IDs, conversation messages, and timestamps. These providers encrypt data both in transit and at rest.
When you send a message, it is transmitted to a third-party AI service provider to generate a response. The text of your messages is sent to their servers for processing and is used solely to generate your response. Our AI provider's usage policy states that inputs and outputs sent via their API are not used to train their AI models.
We use third-party hosting services to serve the App and process requests. Standard web server logs (such as IP addresses and request metadata) may be collected by our hosting provider as part of normal infrastructure operations.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposes. If you would like to know the specific providers we use, please contact us at hello@getcertainty.app.
Your conversation data is retained for as long as your account remains active. For guest users, conversation data is associated with a randomly generated anonymous UID stored locally on your device; if you clear your browser data or use a different device, a new UID is created and your previous conversations will no longer be accessible. For signed-in users, your conversation data persists across devices and sessions until you delete it. You may delete individual conversations at any time through the App's interface. If you delete your account, all associated conversation data will be removed.
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including transmitting all data over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), storing conversation data in cloud databases that provide encryption at rest and in transit, keeping the AI system prompt server-side (not exposed to the frontend), and using serverless architecture to minimize attack surfaces.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially reasonable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Regardless of where you are located, we respect your right to privacy and provide the following:
You can delete individual conversations at any time through the App's interface. Signed-in users may also request full account deletion by contacting us. Guest users can end their session by clearing browser data.
This Privacy Policy describes all categories of data we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your data, as well as the right to data portability. Our lawful basis for processing your data is legitimate interest in providing the App's core service and, where applicable, your consent. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address listed below.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion of your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as defined under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not use your information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address listed below.
The App does not track users across third-party websites and does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals because we do not engage in any tracking activities.
The App is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.
Your data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers (Google, Anthropic, Netlify) operate. These transfers are necessary to provide the App's services. By using the App, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries that may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
The App provides Quranic guidance and users may share personal, emotional, or spiritual concerns in their messages. While we store conversation data as described above, we encourage users to avoid sharing highly sensitive personal information (such as government ID numbers, financial account details, or medical record numbers) through the App. The App is not a substitute for professional medical, legal, or mental health advice.
